Acne Treatment with Light Laser Facials

acne-treatment by Nuance Aesthetics in Salt Lake City, Utah

Certain methods of acne treatment may provide some temporary relief, but light laser facials can go deeper into your skin for longer-lasting results. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, light laser treatments may have better results when they are used in conjunction with other treatments. However, it all depends on the unique situation.

The process uses laser light waves to target the bacteria that are naturally on your face. When the bacteria combine with sebum, the natural skin oil and dead skin cells clog the pore and become infected. The infection may take several forms starting with blackheads that are black because they are open and exposed to the air and whiteheads that are white because they are still sealed closed. The laser destroys the bacteria, thereby preventing future breakouts as well as helping to remove current ones.

Light laser treatment for acne has an added benefit. It also reduces or removes dark pigmentation and superficial scars. Light laser treatment can be combined with other treatments that will help minimize the appearance of old acne scars and promote the production of new collagen that gives the skin a fresh, clear appearance.

During a consultation with our specialist, you can learn more about light laser therapy for acne treatment. Your acne will be examined and you will have the opportunity to express your concerns and expectations. Laser light facials may be an effective part of your overall acne treatment plan.

There are several different types of lasers to treat different forms of acne. With light laser treatment, you may be able to reduce your current acne and prevent it from forming for months at a time. Since bacteria grow back quickly, you may want to ask our specialist about the possibility of combining laser light therapy with other treatments.

Jackson Rhudy, MD

Owner/Medical Director

Dr. Jackson Rhudy is a board-certified physician who has been practicing in Salt Lake since 1974. After an initial career in emergency medicine, he developed an interest in the new technologies emerging in the field of aesthetics utilizing non-surgical techniques such as lasers, Botox, and injectable fillers. He sought training from leading experts in the aesthetic field at multiple locations in the US and Europe and in 2000 he founded an aesthetic practice called Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center. It rapidly became a leading aesthetic practice in the Salt Lake City area. In 2010, he sold the practice and focused on his other endeavor, Optimum Clinical Research– a private research site that performs clinical trials on new pharmaceutical drugs. But continuing demand from former aesthetic patients led to the formation of a new aesthetic practice in July 2015. Reuniting with a former colleague, Jill Miller, they started Nuance Aesthetics—a practice devoted to providing excellence in the field of non-surgical aesthetics by offering experience and expertise with the utmost integrity. Dr. Rhudy maintains his board certification in emergency medicine and is the only physician in Salt Lake City who is board certified in laser surgery.

When Dr Rhudy isn’t in the office, he loves riding his bike up City Creek. He has always had a passion for learning and growing in the medical field which is why he spends a lot of free time researching the latest treatments and technology that keeps Nuance ahead of the curve.
