BOTOX / DYSPORT

PRE/POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS

TREATMENT TIME: 30 MINUTES

ANESTHETIC: VIBRATING T-BAR

RECOVERY TIME: REDNESS AND BUMPS SUBSIDED 5-10 MINUTES AFTER TREATMENT. POSSIBLE BRUISING CAN LAST A FEW DAYS DEPENDING ON YOUR BODY.

NOTICEABLE RESULTS: EFFECTS CAN BE NOTICED AS LITTLE AS 24 HOURS. FULL RESULTS ARE SEEN AT ABOUT 2 WEEKS FOLLOWING TREATMENT.

TOUCH-UP: TOUCH-UPS SHOULD BE DONE AT THE 2-WEEK MARK WHEN NEUROTOXIN IS AT ITS PEAK.

NUMBER OF TREATMENTS NEEDED: MAINTENANCE EVERY 3-4 MONTHS

PRE CARE

If approved by your primary care provider, avoid all blood thinners 1 week before having your injection. This may include Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo biloba, and Primrose oil.

Avoid alcohol 1-2 days prior to treatment to lessen the chances of bruising.

Bruising is always a possibility; Arnica is optional prior to treatment to help minimize bruising.

If possible, come to your appointment with a clean face, free of make-up.

We will not treat you with neurotoxins if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not get Botox/Dysport if you have a neuromuscular disorder.

Keep in mind Botox/Dysport is a medication, the more units used = the stronger/less movement you will have when the product takes full effect. The less units used = the more movement you will have when the product takes full effect. ALSO, the more units used, the longer the treatment results will last.

POST CARE

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Do not apply make-up preferably for 4 hours after treatment. Waiting 24 hours is best.

Do not lay down for 4 hours after treatment.

Avoid massaging or applying pressure to the treated area for 24 hours. Avoid wearing a tight hat if your forehead is treated.

Be patient – It takes up to two weeks to see full results. We will not inject more Botox/Dysport within 2 weeks.

Follow up with your injector after 2 weeks if you feel any tweaks are needed.

Average longevity is 3-4 months, but normal to see some movement returning after 6-10 weeks.

Continue to avoid alcohol for 1-2 days if bruising occurs as it could worsen.

Some people feel that continuing to take Arnica after treatment (while bruising persists) can help to heal bruising faster.

Call the office 801.557.5200 immediately if the areas treated become red or hot to the touch days after treatment.

Jackson Rhudy, MD

Owner/Medical Director

Dr. Jackson Rhudy is a board-certified physician who has been practicing in Salt Lake since 1974. After an initial career in emergency medicine, he developed an interest in the new technologies emerging in the field of aesthetics utilizing non-surgical techniques such as lasers, Botox, and injectable fillers. He sought training from leading experts in the aesthetic field at multiple locations in the US and Europe and in 2000 he founded an aesthetic practice called Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center. It rapidly became a leading aesthetic practice in the Salt Lake City area. In 2010, he sold the practice and focused on his other endeavor, Optimum Clinical Research– a private research site that performs clinical trials on new pharmaceutical drugs. But continuing demand from former aesthetic patients led to the formation of a new aesthetic practice in July 2015. Reuniting with a former colleague, Jill Miller, they started Nuance Aesthetics—a practice devoted to providing excellence in the field of non-surgical aesthetics by offering experience and expertise with the utmost integrity. Dr. Rhudy maintains his board certification in emergency medicine and is the only physician in Salt Lake City who is board certified in laser surgery.

When Dr Rhudy isn’t in the office, he loves riding his bike up City Creek. He has always had a passion for learning and growing in the medical field which is why he spends a lot of free time researching the latest treatments and technology that keeps Nuance ahead of the curve.
