If you have visible facial veins that are impacting your appearance and perhaps your self-esteem, you may want to get more detail from us about how laser vein treatment can benefit you. You may find that it is the answer you thought would never come.

Spider veins are common on the face. They develop when the blood quits flowing through the vessels in the proper manner. This causes them to enlarge and become visible through the skin. In addition to the face, they are common on the legs and chest. Spider veins get their name because they can remind you of a spider web with its interwoven strands. Many think they also look like the legs of a spider because of their sharp turns. They can be purple, blue, or red.

Fortunately for those with spider veins, they do not create any health risks or produce symptoms, except in rare cases. This can be of little comfort, however, for individuals whose social life and self-esteem are negatively impacted by the appearance issues caused by the condition.

Laser vein treatment can be done in a way that does not require a period of downtime for recovery. This type of therapy can be performed without destroying the skin or tissue that surrounds the targeted veins. These treatments utilize highly concentrated pulses of light that are directed into the vessels that are being treated. The energy will convert to heat when the tissue absorbs it. The heat will then destroy the vessel.

Once the vessel has been treated and destroyed, the tissue that remains will gradually begin to disappear from view. Blood that previously flowed through these veins will then be rerouted through other, healthier veins. As a result, the treatment will not create circulatory problems as a side effect.

Rosacea is another vein-related condition that many people have on their faces. It can cause redness and is sometimes more visible than at other times. A number of things can trigger rosacea outbreaks including exercise, sun exposure, alcohol, coffee, and spicy foods. The outbreaks happen when the small veins in parts of the face fill up with blood quicker than normal as a result of one or more stimuli.

Laser vein treatment is often viewed by professionals as the best way to treat rosacea. While it is not known exactly what causes the condition, it can be effectively treated.

Owner/Medical Director

Dr. Jackson Rhudy is a board-certified physician who has been practicing in Salt Lake since 1974. After an initial career in emergency medicine, he developed an interest in the new technologies emerging in the field of aesthetics utilizing non-surgical techniques such as lasers, Botox, and injectable fillers. He sought training from leading experts in the aesthetic field at multiple locations in the US and Europe and in 2000 he founded an aesthetic practice called Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center. It rapidly became a leading aesthetic practice in the Salt Lake City area. In 2010, he sold the practice and focused on his other endeavor, Optimum Clinical Research– a private research site that performs clinical trials on new pharmaceutical drugs. But continuing demand from former aesthetic patients led to the formation of a new aesthetic practice in July 2015. Reuniting with a former colleague, Jill Miller, they started Nuance Aesthetics—a practice devoted to providing excellence in the field of non-surgical aesthetics by offering experience and expertise with the utmost integrity. Dr. Rhudy maintains his board certification in emergency medicine and is the only physician in Salt Lake City who is board certified in laser surgery.

When Dr Rhudy isn’t in the office, he loves riding his bike up City Creek. He has always had a passion for learning and growing in the medical field which is why he spends a lot of free time researching the latest treatments and technology that keeps Nuance ahead of the curve.
