Alcohol consumption should be avoided at least 24 hours before treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.

Prior to treatment, avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications if approved by your primary care provider.

Supplements and medications such as aspirin, ginseng, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, St. John’s Wort, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS can cause some swelling and bruising after injections.

You should schedule your QWO appointment at least two weeks before a special event, such as a wedding or vacation. It may take months for bruises to heal completely.

You are not a candidate for QWO if you are pregnant, or breastfeeding.

post

CARE

Avoid strenuous exercise or straining for about 48 hours after your treatment.

For 48 hours following your QWO treatment, avoid medications and supplements that can cause bruising. Compression garments (Spanx, biker shorts) may be worn following treatment to improve comfort.

Following QWO treatment, there is moderate to severe bruising. After treatment, 84% of study participants experienced bruising.

When bruising occurs on buttocks, it is typically eggplant-purple in color. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for bruises to disappear. After the first QWO treatment, bruising typically lessens in severity, and with repeated treatments, bruising generally disappears. Avoid medications, supplements, and foods that can thin the blood (examples: Advil/ibuprofen, aspirin, alcohol, vitamin E, fish oil).

Oral Arnika Forte starting 1-3 days before treatment and continue until bruising has resolved. Take as directed on bottle.

Avoid excessive sun exposure during treatments and for 2 months following last treatment to avoid post- inflammatory hyperpigmentation (skin discoloration) around treatment area.

In the first few days after a QWO treatment, there may be mild discomfort, pain, or warmth. The discomfort is usually not severe enough to interfere with daily activities. There was no correlation between soreness and sometimes dramatic bruising. The discomfort associated with QWO treatment may be reduced by taking extra strength Tylenol.

It is likely that swelling or fullness will occur after treatment. It is a common side effect that may last for 1-2 weeks after treatment.

Jackson Rhudy, MD

Owner/Medical Director

Dr. Jackson Rhudy is a board-certified physician who has been practicing in Salt Lake since 1974. After an initial career in emergency medicine, he developed an interest in the new technologies emerging in the field of aesthetics utilizing non-surgical techniques such as lasers, Botox, and injectable fillers. He sought training from leading experts in the aesthetic field at multiple locations in the US and Europe and in 2000 he founded an aesthetic practice called Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center. It rapidly became a leading aesthetic practice in the Salt Lake City area. In 2010, he sold the practice and focused on his other endeavor, Optimum Clinical Research– a private research site that performs clinical trials on new pharmaceutical drugs. But continuing demand from former aesthetic patients led to the formation of a new aesthetic practice in July 2015. Reuniting with a former colleague, Jill Miller, they started Nuance Aesthetics—a practice devoted to providing excellence in the field of non-surgical aesthetics by offering experience and expertise with the utmost integrity. Dr. Rhudy maintains his board certification in emergency medicine and is the only physician in Salt Lake City who is board certified in laser surgery.

When Dr Rhudy isn’t in the office, he loves riding his bike up City Creek. He has always had a passion for learning and growing in the medical field which is why he spends a lot of free time researching the latest treatments and technology that keeps Nuance ahead of the curve.
