Kybella Faqs

Men and women can develop a double chin for a variety of reasons, including weight gain, genetics, and the natural aging process. While liposuction and other surgical procedures can also target this cosmetic concern, surgery is not ideal for everyone. 

Kybella®, provides a non-surgical alternative that can lift and tighten the submental fullness underneath your chin in as little as two treatments. It is intended for chin fat removal.
The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. At Nuance Aesthetics, will determine how many treatments you will need, but they will not exceed six total treatments.
Deoxycholic acid is a substance found in the body that aids in breaking down and absorbing dietary fat. Kybella® is a formulation of deoxycholic acid that, when injected into the fatty tissues underneath the chin, disables fat cells and prevents them from accumulating or storing fat in the future. 

Once the fat cells are disabled, the contours of the chin will gradually elevate, creating a more pleasing profile.
Aside from the typical redness, bruising, swelling, or itching that can develop with any injectable treatment, it can potentially cause harm to the skin or surrounding tissue including muscle, nerve and blood vessels.

Yes, they do! The injection of KYBELLA® assists in eliminating fat cells from your body and preventing new fat from forming.
Once KYBELLA® is injected, the acid destroys fat cells. Destroyed fat cells cannot accumulate or store fat. Further treatment is not required after achieving your desired aesthetic.
You should start noticing a difference in four to six weeks. You should see satisfactory results about eight weeks after having the suggested number of KYBELLA® injections.
Only KYBELLA®-trained healthcare professionals can administer treatment. Several small injections are given under your chin during each treatment, and the process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The number of injections you’ll need depends on the amount of fat under your chin and your desired profile.
You may experience bruising and swelling after Kybella® treatment. Schedule your appointments at least two weeks before any special occasion or event.
