Treating Dynamic Wrinkles with BOTOX®

The normal aging process often entails the development of both dynamic and static wrinkles. While dynamic wrinkles typically form in facial areas that experience a considerable amount of movement, static wrinkles are the result of volume loss and the age-related breakdown of the skin’s structure. Static wrinkles remain apparent even when the face is completely relaxed, while dynamic wrinkles are indicative of tension in the facial muscles and become more noticeable whenever a person laughs, smiles or frowns. Crow’s feet worry lines and fine lines around the mouth are all common examples of dynamic wrinkles. BOTOX® is an injectable solution that has the power to release dynamic wrinkles across the visage. This popular and entirely non-surgical procedure can help you regain your youthful good looks without the need for incisions or tissue removal.

How BOTOX® Works

This FDA-approved solution can be strategically injected into certain areas across the visage to temporarily block the signals from nerves that control the expressive muscles. This releases muscle tension, thereby causing fine lines and wrinkles at the surface of the skin to relax. By injecting only very minute amounts of the solution into the treatment area, our experienced provider can help you regain a youthful and line-free appearance while preserving your ability to make a broad range of facial expressions.

The Benefits of BOTOX®

This is currently one of the most popular treatments for dynamic wrinkles available. The procedure does not entail any downtime. In fact, as soon as your injections are complete, you can immediately resume most of your normal activities. Best of all, BOTOX® can create a noticeable decrease in dynamic wrinkles across the target area. Patients can expect to see continued improvements in the days that follow their procedure as the full effects of the treatment manifest.

How Long Do the Results Last?

BOTOX® is designed to be a temporary solution to dynamic wrinkles across the brow and around the mouth and eyes. The results tend to last for about six months. As the solution wears off, dynamic wrinkles will begin to reappear. Once this occurs, these injections can be repeated to extend their benefits. Fortunately, these treatments can be safely performed at our office multiple times per year.

Jackson Rhudy, MD

Owner/Medical Director

Dr. Jackson Rhudy is a board-certified physician who has been practicing in Salt Lake since 1974. After an initial career in emergency medicine, he developed an interest in the new technologies emerging in the field of aesthetics utilizing non-surgical techniques such as lasers, Botox, and injectable fillers. He sought training from leading experts in the aesthetic field at multiple locations in the US and Europe and in 2000 he founded an aesthetic practice called Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center. It rapidly became a leading aesthetic practice in the Salt Lake City area. In 2010, he sold the practice and focused on his other endeavor, Optimum Clinical Research– a private research site that performs clinical trials on new pharmaceutical drugs. But continuing demand from former aesthetic patients led to the formation of a new aesthetic practice in July 2015. Reuniting with a former colleague, Jill Miller, they started Nuance Aesthetics—a practice devoted to providing excellence in the field of non-surgical aesthetics by offering experience and expertise with the utmost integrity. Dr. Rhudy maintains his board certification in emergency medicine and is the only physician in Salt Lake City who is board certified in laser surgery.

When Dr Rhudy isn’t in the office, he loves riding his bike up City Creek. He has always had a passion for learning and growing in the medical field which is why he spends a lot of free time researching the latest treatments and technology that keeps Nuance ahead of the curve.
