PRP therapy is an all-natural, effective treatment that harnesses the power of your own blood. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is the part of your blood that is responsible for healing cells and tissue in the body. It has been used for years in the orthopedic world to help people heal from surgeries and injuries. Now, PRP therapy can be used to treat several different conditions and problems, including skin issues.

The PRP Treatment

PRP therapy is a simple treatment that is wholly non-surgical. The first step in the procedure is a blood draw. Your blood sample will then be put inside of centrifuge that can separate out your PRP from the rest of your blood. Then, we create a usable serum, and that it’s.

There is no set downtime or ill side effects that come with PRP therapy. After the blood draw and the creation of the PRP, the procedure is done and you can get right back to your life. With PRP therapy, there is also no risk of an allergic reaction. Most patients make good candidates for PRP therapy; however, if you suffer from any blood disorders, you may not be a good fit for this therapy. That’s one of the reasons why a consultation is so important.

What Can PRP Be Used to Treat?

PRP has a long history of treating different concerns, conditions, and issues. The therapy has proven incredibly effective at rejuvenating the skin. As we age, we begin losing collagen and elastin, which is what leads to all those lines and wrinkles under our eyes, on our foreheads, and around our noses. PRP actually induces the production of beneficial substances in the skin and thus reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. PRP therapy also helps restore lost facial volume and improves the texture of your skin.

Jackson Rhudy, MD

Owner/Medical Director

Dr. Jackson Rhudy is a board-certified physician who has been practicing in Salt Lake since 1974. After an initial career in emergency medicine, he developed an interest in the new technologies emerging in the field of aesthetics utilizing non-surgical techniques such as lasers, Botox, and injectable fillers. He sought training from leading experts in the aesthetic field at multiple locations in the US and Europe and in 2000 he founded an aesthetic practice called Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center. It rapidly became a leading aesthetic practice in the Salt Lake City area. In 2010, he sold the practice and focused on his other endeavor, Optimum Clinical Research– a private research site that performs clinical trials on new pharmaceutical drugs. But continuing demand from former aesthetic patients led to the formation of a new aesthetic practice in July 2015. Reuniting with a former colleague, Jill Miller, they started Nuance Aesthetics—a practice devoted to providing excellence in the field of non-surgical aesthetics by offering experience and expertise with the utmost integrity. Dr. Rhudy maintains his board certification in emergency medicine and is the only physician in Salt Lake City who is board certified in laser surgery.

When Dr Rhudy isn’t in the office, he loves riding his bike up City Creek. He has always had a passion for learning and growing in the medical field which is why he spends a lot of free time researching the latest treatments and technology that keeps Nuance ahead of the curve.
