Portrait of a woman with long, dark hair.

The dry air in Salt Lake City can leave your skin feeling tight, even if your pores seem clogged. You might also notice some sun damage or increased sensitivity.

At Nuance Aesthetics + Wellness, we start by looking at the big picture. We check your skin, ask about your home routine, and pick a treatment that fits your needs. Whether you want a one-time boost or ongoing care, we’ll explain each step so you know what to expect.

What Is a Professional Facial?

A facial is a treatment done in our office that can include cleansing, gentle exfoliation, extractions, and hydration. Some facials smooth the skin’s surface, while others use suction to clear pores and add hydrating or brightening serums. At Nuance, we choose your facial based on your skin, comfort level, and goals, and we can adjust each step for you.

Hydrafacial uses a vortex-style tip to exfoliate, lift debris from pores, and deliver hydration. Nuance offers Signature, Deluxe, and Platinum treatments. Depending on the tier, your visit may include targeted boosters, LED light therapy, or lymphatic drainage.

Hydrafacial works well for dryness and congestion and usually does not require much downtime. You can check our Hydrafacial options to see what each visit includes.

DiamondGlow: Polish and Infuse

DiamondGlow pairs a diamond-tipped wand with suction and a SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum. The tip, suction, and nourishing serum can be selected for your skin.

Choose DiamondGlow if your skin feels rough or looks dull and you want to see brighter skin without a long recovery. The wand may feel a bit scratchy or firm in some areas, but your provider can adjust it for comfort. You can find more details about preparation and aftercare on our DiamondGlow page.

Dermaplaning Facial: A Smooth Finish

Dermaplaning removes surface buildup and fine vellus hair with a sterile blade. Nuance's Dermaplaning Facial also includes a double cleanse, extractions, an enzyme peel masque, and LED light therapy.

Many people enjoy the smooth finish and how makeup applies after this treatment. If you have an active breakout or irritated skin, we may suggest a different option. You can learn more about the Dermaplaning Facial on our website.

What Are the Benefits of Facials?

Facials can help with dullness, visible pores, rough texture, and mild congestion. Hydration can make dry skin look and feel better, and exfoliation can restore a brighter, smoother look. Your visit is also a chance to review your skincare routine. While facials can treat surface issues, they will not remove deep acne scars, wrinkles, or major discoloration in just one session.

If you are mainly concerned about sun damage or uneven skin tone, we may recommend a chemical peel or another treatment that has a different recovery time. The best option depends on how much improvement you want and how much downtime you are comfortable with.

How Do We Choose Your Treatment?

We consider your skin’s dryness or oiliness, any breakouts, sensitivity, sun exposure, and the products you use at home. If you use prescription retinoids, have had a recent laser treatment, or have a history of rosacea or cold sores, we will take that into account when planning your facial.

That assessment guides how much exfoliation your skin can handle, whether extractions make sense, and which serum or booster is worth using.

Facials are a good option for most adults who want a quick refresh with little downtime. Your safety is our priority, so we will wait to treat skin that is sunburned, broken, infected, or having a flare-up. Please let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have allergies, or have used isotretinoin in the last six months. We may adjust your visit, reschedule, or recommend a medical check if needed.

What Is the Appointment Like?

Your appointment begins with a skin check and a chat about your goals. After cleansing your skin, your provider will do the chosen treatment and finish with hydration and sun protection.

Hydrafacial and DiamondGlow use a moving handpiece with suction, while dermaplaning feels like gentle scraping. You might feel a little tingling during exfoliation, but numbing is usually not needed. Most people find the treatment relaxing. If anything feels too painful or hot, please let us know so we can make adjustments.

How Should You Prepare and Recover?

Please bring a list of the products you use on your face. If you do not remember the names, photos of the labels are helpful. Let us know about any recent procedures or changes in your medications before your appointment. Try to arrive with clean skin and avoid coming in if you have a sunburn.

The pause for retinoids, acids, scrubs, waxing, and hair removal depends on the facial. For DiamondGlow, Nuance asks you to stop exfoliating products for at least three days and avoid waxing or similar hair removal for at least 48 hours.

After your facial, you might notice some mild redness or tightness for a few hours. Use a gentle cleanser, the moisturizer your provider suggests, and a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

DiamondGlow instructions also pause scrubs, retinoids, acids, and harsh actives for 24–48 hours; strenuous exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and other facial procedures for 24 hours; and prolonged sun exposure for 72 hours. Ask when to restart vitamin C or other antioxidants if they are part of your routine. Your plan may differ with another facial. Call Nuance at (801) 557-5200 for severe or persistent irritation or an unexpected reaction.

When Will You See Results?

You might notice a glow or smoother skin right after your facial. As any redness fades over the next few days, your skin’s hydration and brightness should become more noticeable.

Results from facials are temporary, and how long they last depends on your skin type, home care, sun exposure, and the treatment you choose. Some people book facials before a special event, while others come in about once a month for maintenance. If your skin gets irritated or the treatment is not helping your main concern, we will adjust your plan.

How Much Do Facials Cost in Salt Lake City?

The cost of a facial depends on the type of treatment, how long you are in the room, which serums or boosters you choose, and any add-ons. Hydrafacial has three levels with different steps, while DiamondGlow and Dermaplaning use their own tools and products. We will let you know the price before you decide. Keeping up a simple home routine can also help you maintain your results between visits.

Facials Frequently Asked Questions

Begin by thinking about your main goal. Hydrafacial combines deep cleansing with hydration, DiamondGlow offers gentle polishing and serum infusion, and dermaplaning removes surface buildup and fine facial hair. A skin assessment will help us decide which is best for you.

Usually, yes, but sensitive skin means we will adjust the products and how intense the treatment is. Please tell us about any rosacea, allergies, recent irritation, or prescription products you use. We may pick a gentler facial or wait until your skin is calmer.

Give yourself a few days after your first facial, especially if your skin gets red easily after exfoliation. Once you see how your skin reacts, you can schedule future visits with more confidence.

A facial can help with surface congestion, but if you have ongoing acne, you will need a specific treatment plan. If you have inflamed breakouts, we may need to avoid exfoliation or extractions.

Please ask about including your neck when you schedule. The areas we treat and available add-ons depend on the facial you choose. Your provider can let you know if your neck can be included and how it might change your appointment.

One facial can give your skin a quick boost. How often you come back depends on your skin and your goals. Some people like monthly visits, while others need them less often.
