Sciton BBL (BroadBand Light) is a form of IPL (Intense Pulse Light). BBL is a revolutionary evolution of IPL treatment utilizing Forever Young™ technology to restore aging skin to a healthy, more youthful appearance and keep it that way. BBL (broadband light or Intense Pulsed Light—IPL) utilizes light energy to improve the appearance of aging skin, clearing your complexion but also stimulating collagen production to improve overall skin health. BBL offers quick, easy, no-downtime treatments.
BBL delivers pulses of photothermal energy to the upper layers of the skin. Unlike traditional lasers that use a single wavelength, BBL uses a broad spectrum of light to target various depths and pigments. By heating the skin’s surface, it targets the melanin in dark spots and the hemoglobin in redness, causing them to break down and be naturally eliminated by the body.
The BBL laser procedure is fast and relatively comfortable. After protecting your eyes with safety shields and applying a cooling gel to the treatment area, your provider glides the sapphire-chilled handpiece over your skin. You will experience a series of quick "rubber band snap" sensations and bright flashes of light. Thanks to the HERO technology’s cooling system, the skin’s surface stays protected while the energy works beneath, making the session much more tolerable than older laser treatments.
A series of three treatment sessions, a month apart, is recommended as initial treatment. Treatments are not painful, and there is no downtime. After an initial series of three treatments, maintenance treatments are recommended every three to six months for continued improvement.

BBL Laser reduces brown spots and redness, including vessels and red spots, and reverses the biological age of the skin by creating a thicker, healthier dermis. While the face is the most frequent treatment area, BBL is highly effective for any area that has seen significant sun exposure. We commonly treat the chest (décolletage), neck, shoulders, and the backs of the hands to ensure an even, radiant skin tone across your entire body. BBL treats a wide array of skin concerns caused by aging and sun exposure, including:
Pigmented Lesions: Fading sun damage, freckles, and age spots.
Vascular Lesions: Reducing rosacea, broken capillaries, and redness.
Active Acne: Using specific light filters to kill acne-causing bacteria.
Skin Texture: Improving the appearance of pores and fine lines.
Melasma is characterized by areas of brownish discoloration on the face caused by overactivity of the melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells in the dermis. This may appear during or after pregnancy or other hormonal changes such as birth control medications. It is worsened by sun exposure. Treatment of melasma is difficult.
The appearance of melasma may be improved with BBL treatment, but it will usually recur over time, requiring additional treatments. Rarely, melasma can be worsened by BBL. In addition to light treatments, topical treatment with hydroquinone is recommended for the management of melasma.

The primary benefit of the BBL laser is its ability to address multiple skin concerns in a single treatment. By targeting both red and brown pigments, BBL provides an improved tone that looks naturally vibrant. Beyond simple aesthetic changes, regular BBL treatments rejuvenate skin by altering the gene expression of aging skin to behave like youthful skin. This means your skin isn't just looking better; it’s actually becoming more resilient.
Because the treatment is non-invasive, it carries a much lower risk than laser resurfacing, while still providing visible signs of skin rejuvenation. It is a safe, clinical, and effective solution for anyone looking to maintain youthful skin without the need for surgery or long recovery times.

Patients with a fair to medium skin tone looking to correct sun damage, redness, or pigmentation may be good candidates for BBL treatments. Because BBL targets pigment, it is generally not recommended for patients with darker skin tones or those with a fresh tan, as the light cannot distinguish between the dark spots and natural melanin. We will conduct a thorough assessment of your skin and medical history to ensure BBL is the safest path for your complexion.
The recovery time for BBL is minimal. You may experience some redness and a warm sensation (similar to a mild sunburn) for a few hours after the procedure. Over the next several days, your dark spots will darken (looking like "coffee grounds") before naturally flaking off. It is critical to avoid direct sun exposure and wear daily sun protection during this healing process. Most patients return to their normal activities immediately and can wear makeup the following day.

You will notice visible results in your skin tone and pigmentation within 7 to 14 days as the darkened spots flake away. Your skin will feel smoother, and your complexion will appear more radiant and even.
While you will see improved skin tone after just one treatment, we typically recommend a series of 3 sessions to achieve optimal results. To maintain your bright, fresh complexion, we suggest 1–2 maintenance treatments per year to continue the collagen stimulation and keep sun damage at bay.
At Nuance, we don't just provide laser treatments; we provide medical-grade transformations. With an on-site MD and a team with 100+ years of collective experience, we ensure that your BBL session is as safe as it is effective.Call Us At: 801-557-5200
Are you ready to make your goals a reality?
IPL releases light energy in many different wavelengths. Your skin absorbs the energy helping to promote collagen production, and eliminating darker skin cells. BBL results are progressive, optimal results are usually noticed after at least a few treatments (done one per month for 3 consecutive months) so 90 days after first treatment.
Initially 3 treatments are suggested, done one per month, for three consecutive months. Followed by seasonal treatments (one every few months).
Results are visible after only one session, but a series of 3-5 treatments are recommended for optimal results.
All areas of the body can be treated, but treating over hair (brows, beards, hairline) is not recommended
A BBL Photofacial is a corrective treatment targeting brown pigmentation and redness. Forever Young BBL is to add results as a de-aging treatment.
There is minimal downtime after a BBL treatment, and you can resume your normal activities almost immediately. If your treatment is targeting pigment issues, the downtime usually consists of pigment becoming darker before it lightens, which usually last about one week.
First the skin is cleansed, then a cool gel is applied to the treatment area. Second, the crystal applicator is placed on the skin to deliver the light therapy.
Patients often describe BBL like a warm flash of bright light sensation, not really described as being painful. You may experience more discomfort in more sensitive areas.
The BBL skin rejuvenation procedure can be performed on men and women of almost any age.
