Pre-Care Instructions

Sculptra Treatment Guide

To ensure safe treatment and optimal results, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:

  • If approved by your primary care provider, avoid blood-thinning substances for 1 week prior, including:
  • Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
  • Aspirin
  • Aleve (Naproxen)
  • Vitamin E
  • Fish Oil
  • Garlic
  • Ginseng
  • St. John’s Wort
  • Ginkgo biloba
  • Primrose oil

  • Avoid alcohol for 1–2 days prior to treatment to reduce bruising risk
  • Bruising and swelling are common o Schedule treatment at least 2–3 weeks before important events
  • Oral Arnica is optional before treatment to help reduce bruising
  • Topical or oral Arnica may also be used after treatment
  • Arrive with clean skin if possible:
  • No makeup
  • Sculptra is not recommended if you are:
  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding

Post-Care Instructions

Proper aftercare is essential for healing and achieving the best results:

Immediately After Treatment

  • Most patients may resume normal daily activities
  • Mild bruising, swelling, or tenderness is normal and typically resolves within a few days
  • Apply a cold pack:
  • Use for short intervals during the first 24 hours to reduce swelling

Rule of Five (Critical for Results)

  • Massage the treated area:
  • 5 minutes at a time
  • 5 times per day
  • For 5 days following treatment

General Care

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning beds until swelling or redness resolves
  • Understand your results timeline:
  • Sculptra is a biostimulator treatment
  • Results typically begin to appear 60–90 days after the final vial in your treatment plan
  • Results can last up to 2 years
