Sculptra Pre & Post Care

TREATMENT TYPE: 60-90 MINUTES DEPENDING ON HOW MANY VIALS AND TREATMENT AREAS.
ANESTHETIC: TOPICAL NUMBING, LIDOCAINE MIXED WITH SCULPTRA, ICE, VIBRATING T-BAR.
RECOVERY TIME: UP TO 2 WEEKS.
NOTICEABLE RESULTS: GRADUALLY SUBTLE/NATURAL RESULTS CAN BE SEEN UP TO 60-90 DAYS AFTER TREATMENT.
NUMBER OF TREATMENTS NEEDED: WHOLE TREATMENT PLAN IS 1 VIAL PER DECADE OF LIFE (1-2 VIALS CAN BE PLACED AT THE SAME TIME, TREATMENTS/VIALS ARE SCHEDULED 4-6 WEEKS APART).

PRE CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • If approved by your primary care provider, avoid all blood thinners one week before your injections. This includes Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo biloba, and Primrose oil.
  • Avoid alcohol 1-2 days prior to treatment to minimize the chances of bruising.
  • Bruising and swelling are common, so plan your procedure 2-3 weeks before any important events.
  • Oral Arnica is optional before your treatment and can help minimize bruising. Arnica (oral or topical) can also be used after your treatment.
  • If possible, come to your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup.
  • We will not treat you with Sculptra if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • After Sculptra injections, most people can resume their normal activities. Bruising, swelling, and other side effects are usually mild and resolve within a few days.
  • Apply a cold pack to the treated area for a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours to help speed recovery.
  • The Rule of Five: Massage the treated area five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days following treatment.
  • Avoid excessive sunlight or tanning beds until any swelling or redness has resolved.
  • It’s important to understand that Sculptra has bio-stimulatory properties. Most patients begin to see results 60-90 days after their final vial from the initial treatment plan.
  • Sculptra results can last up to two years.
